More battening this weekend. We have completed the horizontal and vertical battening on the wall to the side of the kitchen, which continues over the low roof. As shown in the following two photos:

We also removed the two kitchen windows, sealed up the drainage holes in the bottom, drilled new ones in the front to match the bathroom windows, and refitted them. We've removed all the battens from around the windows, waiting for a response from our rendering chap, who is hopefully going to tell us how thick the finished coat of render will be, so we can space the battens away from the window accordingly.
